The Weeknd’s new album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” has just dropped, and as a fan it’s everything I have been waiting for.
Each track delivers a nostalgic R&B vibe, especially when you crank it up to full volume. The Weeknd took me on a wild ride with a raw and heart-wrenching musical landscape in every song. Each song made me feel like I was actually a part of it and some were even very relatable.
“Cry for Me” is an absolute standout—it’s packed with beats and sounds that are easy to vibe with but sometimes hard to keep up with what The Weeknd is talking about or what the song means.
While “Cry for Me” is definitely a well-crafted gem, I can see how the multitude of sounds might feel a bit chaotic for some listeners.
I loved experiencing shorter tracks like “Until We’re Skin & Bones”—they may just be a few fleeting seconds long, but they’re bursting with emotion, making each moment count.
Some fans, like me, are understandably bummed that this is The Weeknd’s last album, and many are scratching their heads about why he’d end on such a high note. But as he himself said, “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say,” he told W Magazine.
I am thrilled that The Weeknd is taking a step back from singing to prioritize his mental health.
Remember that unforgettable night in 2022 at LA’s SoFi Stadium when his voice cracked and he stopped going on tours? He had to end his concert when his voice cracked, which had people questioning his actions. After a quick visit to the doctor, with no issues found, he knew it was time to find a new challenge
The song “I can’t F****** Sing” shows his emotions towards what happened at the concert even if it is just 12 seconds long. When I listened to this I was shocked about how much anger and sadness was packed into it. Is it safe to say The Weeknd has been struggling for too long?
I think that this album definitely has an underlying meaning about his career and how it reflects on his own metal health. It also has several songs that mention how much he is struggling even if the songs are a few fleeting seconds long it is not hard to miss the general message. “I can feel my spirit slowly leavin’ I can’t see myself and I’m not breathin’.” (Cry For Me)
So, let’s bid The Weeknd a farewell for now. His music will continue to live on and inspire future generations.
