Junior StuCo Treasurer Macy O’Hare attended this year’s Trunk-or-Treat as a way to represent our school.
“I’m a part of StuCo,” O’Hare said, “and I just wanted to be a part of our school and represent Salina Central.”
Several members of Central’s clubs and organizations volunteered at the Halloween-themed event to provide trunk games and sweets for kids and their guardians to enjoy.
Groups taking part included Student Council (StuCo); volleyball;, football; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA); Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA); Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA); and soccer.
Freshman Gabby Merry attended Trunk-or-Treat as a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes club.
“I like being a part of FCA and helping little kids a lot,” Merry said. “So I just thought it would be a fun thing to do, come out and give them candy.”
Kristina Perkins, the sophomore StuCo treasurer, said she loves observing the kids.
“I really like seeing every little kid’s costumes,” Perkins said, “and being able to creatively make our own trunk.”
Freshman Madison Sandbo said she enjoys giving out candy to the little ones.
“I just think it’s super fun,” she said.
Senior student body vice president Jasmine Kassem has done these trunk-or-treats the last few years and has a good time doing it.
“It’s very fun!” Kassem said. “I love making kids happy, and they always have a lot of fun.”
Junior Allison Robinett, who participated as a member of the volleyball team, said she is passionate in Halloween.
“I love Halloween,” she said.
Local parent Missy Dennis said there are many aspects of Trunk-or Treat that she likes.
“I’m old school,” Dennis said, “and I like door to door, but trunk-or-treating is also very convenient.”
Taylor Hernandez, who brought kids to Trunk-or-Treat, said her kids still trick-or-treat as well.
“I really like both,” Hernandez said. “We end up doing a few trunk or treats, then we do door to door, so we like both.”
