Central’s Trunk or Treat was so successful last year that student council adviser Lizzie Eades decided to make it an annual event.
At Trunk or Treat, cars gather in the north parking lot as trick-or-treaters walk from trunk to trunk to collect candy.
“It’s fun for the community,” Eades said. “We have a lot of people who would rather do trunk or treats with their kids rather than going door to door. They were asking for more opportunities to do that.”
Trunk or Treat will be on Monday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Groups with trunks include FFA, football, cheerleading, leadership, HOSA, volleyball, welding, orchestra, FCA, and freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior Stuco classes (Student Council).
“People who have created trunks really wanted to do it again,” Eades said. “They were super excited and they had already planned a trunk [theme] and really wanted to be a part of it.”
There will be 14 trunks total, as some groups will have more than one. Junior Stuco will have two trunks.
“We are going to do walk the plank,” junior Stuco officer Brooke Banninger said. “We will have a little two by four piece of wood on the ground that the trick or treaters can walk on, and then in the trunk of the car we will have skeletons and pirate stuff.”
This year, Stuco is partnering with the leadership class taught by Deirdre Hoff to prepare for the event.
“We get with the clubs and sports and figure out who wants to be a part of it,” Eades said. “We put together the layout of the different trunks and mapping of it all, and get advertisements out to the community.”
All of the community comes – students, siblings, school staff members’ children – and anyone else who has heard about it, Eades said.
“It’s a way to get community involvement in our school,” Eades said. “I like seeing all the different trunks and ideas that students come up with.”
