After four years on the tennis courts as Central Mustangs, doubles partners Addison and Mallory Renfro and Kinsley Foth and Claire Renfro made their mark at the 2024 state tennis tournament.
Addison and Mallory Renfro placed third in doubles at state this year — after placing fifth last year — in leading the team to a fourth-place finish.
“The whole season we prepared for state,” Addison Renfro said, talking about her team’s recipe for success. “Taking it one match at a time, focusing on the match we were on, and then moving forward and not getting stuck on the past or matches we lost.”
Claire Renfro and Kinsley Foth placed seventh at state this year, as they did two years ago. Last year, Foth had a knee injury that resulted in her not being able to play.
“Well I thought it was an huge accomplishment knowing that I placed seventh my sophomore year,” Foth said. “Then with my huge injury last year that I was able to come back and achieve the same things with much harder teams.”
Claire Renfro was the one triplet that wasn’t playing through the season with a sibling, as her partner was Foth.
“It was awesome to have her as my partner,” Claire said. “We’ve known each other for a long time, so it was an easy adjustment.”
