Hogan, Adam place second at state wrestling
Team places 14th overall
Central senior Dawson Hogan and sophomore Jase Adam each placed second at the 5A state wrestling tournament on Saturday.
Hogan defeated Tyler Bailey of Pittsburg, Camden Padgett of Maize and Bradley Trammel of Andover before losing to Goddard’s Jacob Goodwin in the 144-pound division’s championship match.
Adam was victorious over Sommyr Moore of KC-Sumner, Kyle Rector of Salina South, Caden Denton of Bishop Carroll before losing in the 113-pound title match to Lucas Kaufman of Newton.
Central qualified six wrestlers for state and placed 14th overall in Class 5A with 52 points.
Maize won the team competition, Newton placed second and St. Thomas Aquinas third.
