Cross Country Prepares for League and Regionals

Salina Central’s Cross Country team is preparing for upcoming league and regionals, and the team is very optimistic about their chances at making state. The team’s coach, Joe Wilkerson, is especially optimistic about his team.

“I think that there is quite a few kids that have a good shot at making it to state,” Wilkerson said.

One of the runners on the team, Brianna Torres, is also extremely optimistic about their chances. She says she is sure at least a few people will make it to state.

“Oh yeah definitely, I think we’ll do really good,” Torres said

The team has been working really hard to prepare for their upcoming tournaments. They have been doing a lot to work on speed and keeping up their pace. Wilkerson has been pushing them really hard to cut down on their times.

“We are working on bringing our speed up a little bit, we should have our pace by now, and trying to focus this week on our competition,” Wilkerson said.

Everyone on the team agrees that they have had an amazing season, and all of them have improved a lot. One of those runners, Freshman Cora White, is especially proud of herself and her team.

Coach Wilkerson is also very proud of his team. He says all of them have improved a lot, and he is proud of how much effort they have put in to better themselves.

“We have improved all through the season, and the kids have worked really hard,” Wilkerson said.

Cross Country has had a really good season, and they are working really hard to make that final push and make state.
