As softball season is about to start, senior Peyton Kavanagh says “she is excited for her last season to play with the mustangs.”

Last years’ season was a tough one for the girl’s softball team as the team had a record of 7 wins and 12 losses.

“Seeing their losing record from last season, is heartbreaking and disappointing,” said freshman Emily Kvasnicka.

“There is nothing we can do about it now, besides get ready for a better season this year,” said Kvasnicka.

The softball team only has two senior returners and only three varsity players, but a few JV players as well. So there are a lot of open spots on the team for new freshman or new players.

“We lost a lot of seniors, but we have some good freshmen coming in this year. It’s just hard to put young freshmen up against big juniors and seniors,” said assistant Coach Traci Pfeifer

“I am excited to see the new freshman and get to see everyone improve together and as a team,” said Kavanagh. “I have high hopes for how this season with go this year.”

“I couldn’t be more excited for my first season of high school softball, and i’m excited to watch myself and the team improve,” said Kvasnicka.

With the new coach, Dale Smith coming to the team, it makes many returning players and new players excited to see what Smith will bring to the Mustangs. A few players have been coached by Smith before and know that he will be a good addition.
