Last week I saw the movie “Flatliners” and I was impressed and it surpassed my expectations, which were not that high. This movie is directed by the award winning director Niels Arden Oplev. Oplev has also directed the well known movie,”The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”

This is a psychological thriller. This is much more character-driven, and the scares are … each of them are anchored in the character, in the past of each character” said Oplev.

The main character, Courtney, is played by Ellen Page, who has also been seen in the movie “Juno” in 2007. She has also been seen in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014. Page won the MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance in 2008.

Another important character, Ray, is played by Diego Luna, who also played Cassian Andor in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” in 2016.

This movie had excellent scenes with great acting and kept the audience interested, there were no boring scenes which made it a great quality film.

“What if we could document what happens to us after we die?”

“What are you talking about?”

“I would like you to stop my heart. You give it one minute, and then you bring me back.”

This was part of the dialogue between Courtney and Ray, where she explains what she is up to, and he thinks at first that she is crazy.

One medical student, Courtney, is curious of what happens to us after we die. She decides to test it out by stopping her heart to “die,” then being revived after a couple minutes. She then drags four other students into this with her and they all test it out. This film is about their experiences with this experiment.

Her fellow students at first think she is completely crazy for wanting to do this, but after seeing some of the effects on Courtney’s brain, they then decide to participate too. The post experiment effects on all of them are not what they expected.

This movie is a good drama because it showcases conflicts with the characters as well as within the characters themselves, it also has the building tension with the risky experiment and leaves the audience wondering what will happen next.

I would rate this film a 4.5 out of 5. It was a great movie and I encourage everyone to see it.
